3D Character and Environment Design for Animation

3D Character and Environment Design for Animation

After scrutinizing my reference I came up with my story line and begun sketches for my animation. The genre of my animation is romance. The title is " The Journey". It is about a boy and girl who cross the world to find love and finally meet themselves and live happy ever after.
After sketching my ideas the next step is to develop them digitally then after model them in 3D.

So before we start off it is always necessary to have some reference for you work. My reference was taken from CG television an animation channel on youtube. Most of the the animations here are made by students and are very inspiring. Some of the school these students belong to have online classes and teach animation to any interested persons.
My reference is titled " Goutte D'Or" this is a French title which means a drop of gold. After analyzing this short animation film I made an infographic poster to explain what the animation was about as well as other necessary information.
The image below shows the infographic poster.

In the past we learnt on how to make 3D objects and environments, this semester we are going to add on to that knowledge to create a 3D character and environment for animation.
Over the centuries animation has seen a very massive development, from two dimensional character to three dimensional characters to the extent that some look as real as reality itself.
Three dimensional means being able to view all sides of an object. Animation these days try as much as possible not to give us flat characters, this makes the animation more interesting and is a very creative approach and improvement in this field.
This semester we are going to work on our own animation projects in 3D, we would be putting to use software such as blender, maya and other animation software as well as three dimensional modeling software.
This should be fun and to an extent a bit stressful considering its going to be a short semester and work has to be delivered by the set time.

Layouts are very important in making posters. They help you plan and have an idea of the desired look and feel of the poster. Layouts also make it is easy for you to work since you already know where to put the elements of your poster.
In relation to the prior paragraph it is necessary for you to sketch out your ideas before you begin to digitally start work. Failure to do so would cause extreme difficulties when working on your poster and might cause a total waste of time.
I made a few sketches of the layout of my poster after choosing my movie and prepared my self for the next step which is to to digitally create the poster.
My poster is only going to feature the main characters in the movie, the other pages would include a synopsis and production information page , information of the sub-characters page and a trailer of the movie. On home page when the curser is put on the main characters their information would be taken to the designated page for that button, this would apply to every other button on the poster.
After I made made my sketches I did my concept board.

To start off with we were asked to pick five movies and go through them after select one out of the lot.The selected movie is going to be the centre of our project this semester.
I first listed my five movies which were;

Central Intelligence
London Has Fallen
Ride Along 2
Now You See Me 2
Captain America Civil War

I chose "Now You See Me 2", because the movie is about magic and I am a big fun of magic. This movie falls in the genre of thriller / action.
After selecting my movie the next thing to do was to start designing a layout for my poster.

Multimedia refers to the different means compromising of images and text is spread, examples of multimedia include posters and television commercials.
This semester we are going to experiment with new ways of enhancing these means of spreading information and making them more interactive and user friendly.
Our main focus this semester is the movie industry, we are to develop an interactive poster which would be put up at train stations and public places. These posters would be interactive as possible and would contain all adequate and necessary information about the movie either by the tap of the finger or by swiping of the hand.
the two main software which we would be making use of this semester are Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Flash.
I am looking forward to having a great experience this semester.
