Principles of Marketing

Mug Cakes

So after a couple of experiments I came out with my own products finally.

Principles of Marketing

With the tutor still away we had more work to finish. We had to come up with a product name for the product.
Many names came up, some of the names were rotan ( basket ), rotan boy, bag and pack up. We settled for pack up since it relates best with the purpose of the product.
After we reviewed the strengths and weaknesses of the product. Some strengths are, it makes carrying of load easy and could be reused for other purposes.
Some weaknesses were that it would be expensive to produce in some parts of the world and that the attaching and detaching of the straps could be quite cumbersome,
We were also to identify our international market, such as the U.S.A. , France, China and Ghana based on population size and our target audiences.

Principles of Marketing

With our tutor away we were giving some group assignments to finish. In this assignment we had to we had to select some objects from a list of objects which included a fowl, basket, banana, bicycle and a bell. From these objects we were supposed to select three objects and feel free to add one from outside the list to create either a product or service. My peers chose their various objects and came out with various ideas such as a bicycle with bells on it being with a couple of fowls tied to it as a means of transport, another was a bicycle with bells which was used to sell flowers in baskets.
I on the other hand picked the basket, fowl and banana, knowing how this was going to be very hard to come out with either a product or service I chose it anyway.
I came out with a fast food product, the banana processed into a shake, the chicken either fried or cooked and the basket designed in different shapes to look like back packs for easy carrying of food bought especially for those who buy a lot since polythene bags easily get torn with too much load.
The baskets could be used also by market vendors who sell a lot of food produce this would help their customers find it easy carrying what they buy.
At the end of the day my idea was chosen by my peers as the product we were all going to work with.

My Product

Unlike my mates I decided to come out with my own product. This product is mug cakes. As the name name implies these are cakes made in mugs, they are more like extra large cup cakes.
The reason why I chose to make these products is that, these are just home based cakes made to satisfy everyday cravings for cake when they could be put on the market for everyone to have a bite to help them satisfy their cravings as well.
After identifying what I wanted to do I moved on to researching on how to make the desired products.

Principles of Marketing

What is Principles of Marketing ?

Principles of marketing is a module designed to teach students basic techniques on how to sell out their products. These products could be an already existing product or a new product you plan on putting on the Market.
Students are to come out with their own products or re-branding an already existing product. They should also be able to determine their target audiences in order to help them know the right means of marketing and attracting the set target audience.
At the end of the day students would have to come out with logos for branding, packaging and advertisement based on what they plan on marketing based on the strength and weaknesses of the product.

Interactive Design for Web Technology

Reflection

This module was very fun and filled with new things for me. I have always looked at creating websites as a difficulty. Through this module I have understood that for one to make a good website one must know what makes a website good or bad, as a designer especially I ought to know and identify the principles and elements of web designing in order to exploit it in my career.
Also I have learnt simple things such as the use of bold and regular fonts to lay emphasis on vital information or to attract an audience's attention. I been able to understand how being simple could be sometimes complex for instance having a website with just three buttons which is straight to the point. I have also learnt how specific colors attract specific groups of people.
In  a total this module was exciting and in every way interesting.

Communicating Practice

Reflection

This module to me was a little bit unclear. This is because it seemed to be clashing with the driver module and it really had me a little confused and worried which caused quite a number of disagreements over certain topics between me and my tutor.
However all the same I managed to finish up on time. This module though was a little confusing was also fun and interesting.
I as a designer have learnt the key essence of experimentation and try and errors. These are key elements in a designers career since without them growth is stagnant.
I have also learnt how to simply represent ideas and thoughts. Finally the mapping project has made find new ways of looking at not only maps but the entire system we live in from a whole new perspective.

The End Product

This the end product of how the game environment would look like.

3D Modeling for Object and Environment

Reflection

I had a bad start to this module since I had quite a load of technical difficulties. However I was able to finish up this module.
This module though might seem as one has thought me so many things. I have learnt how to model in 3D, how to use camera angles and how to make 3D animations.
This module might not have been easy but it was enlightening and I have enjoyed it to every last bit.

3D Modeling for Object and Environment

Video

After compiling everything I made a video of both my character and building as well as the environment and background.

3D Modeling for Object and Environment

Touch Ups

After compiling everything I made one last touch up which was to change the texture of the ground to something more appropriate.

3D Modeling for Object and Environment

Camera

After putting everything together I applied cameras and manipulated their angles.

3D Modeling for Object and Environment

Merging

After completing both character and building, I merged both of the together with the environment and background.

3D Modeling for Object and Environment

Animating Character

After fleshing I went ahead to animate my character, that is to say I gave it movement and life.

3D Modeling for Object and Environment

Fleshing

Now like the human body when we move our flesh moves in the same direction as our skeleton so at this point I joined the flesh to the skeleton so my character's skeleton and body move in sync.

3D Modeling for Object and Environment

Skeleton

Before any living organism can move it needs a skeleton. Even non living things which have the ability to move need a good locomotive system which can ensure their easy movement. That is what I did to my character, I gave it a skeleton to connect the body parts and joints so it can move easily.

3D Modeling for Object and Environment

Character Coloring

After modeling my character I applied color to it to make it look good.

3D Modeling for Object and Environment

Character Modeling

After sketching out my character I went ahead to model it.

3D Modeling for Object and Environment

Character

After developing my building, environment and background, I proceeded to sketch out my character for modeling.

3D Modeling for Object and Environment

After getting used to the camera angles I went ahead to make a video of my building and its environment

3D Modeling for Object and Environment

Camera

After putting everything concerning building and environment I went ahead to apply some camera angles. This required a lot of patience and skill as well as precision.
