After testing out your colour paste, the next
step is to allow the canvas dry and also think about how you are going to
exhibit your results. Usually this is done by using a cabinet.
A cabinet is a wooden frame which is used to
exhibit ones work. This cabinet should be designed and sketched out first so
you can have an idea of how the layout is going to be. This is what was done
here and we came out with our very own cabinet.
In addition to the designing of the cabinet you
should also construct the cabinet after. Firstly you would have to select
suitable wood strong enough to fit the purpose it is being constructed for.
After you would have to make sure that you measure the dimensions of your
cabinet and cut off excess wood which is not needed.
After you construct the cabinet making sure all
the joints are firmly put together. The cabinet should be in constructed in a
way such that a portion of it is used to exhibit the tested pigment paste,
another showing the raw pigment and the last the powdered form of the pigment
after grinding. For the exhibition of the paste pigments on canvas, metal wires
or threads or ropes can be fixed into the cabinet so the canvas can hang on
them. For the raw pigment and powder form shelf like platforms are to be made
so the jars can sit on them.
After constructing the full cabinet it is
necessary for you to paint or apply some finishing to the wood to make it look
attractive also. After doing this you can hang out your cabinet and label what
the sections are for, you can go on to fix in your work to be exhibited and
your exhibition set to go.
